Director of IT Business Solutions—St. Paul, MN

Job Summary

The Director of IT Business Solutions is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the functional areas of IT infrastructure, network, business applications, data management, reporting and project management of company- wide initiatives involving technology. This position will interact with a broad range of stakeholders including internal and external customers and requires an understanding of Finance, tax and procurement capability areas designated as Corporate Systems. The Director of IT Business Solutions will manage, develop and maintain an environment committed to the highest levels of standards and service levels across the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads IT development of capabilities to support the organization’s strategic and operational needs.
  • Manage technology driven initiatives with strategic value and ROI, sourcing efficient utilization of internal, contracted and outsourced functions including systems, infrastructure and network facilities, operations, maintenance and support.
  • Work in collaboration with CDO and staff to analyze needs and develop cross-functional solutions to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
  • Manage procurement, invoice management, asset management and hardware/software maintenance contracts for all IT infrastructure hardware and software assets.
  • Manage, coach, develop and mentor the IT department by creating an environment for success and results and ensure resources are effectively utilized.
  • Manage multiple IT projects and deliver end results on time and on budget.
  • Develop, maintain computer information resources, providing data security and disaster recovery.
  • Establish and evolve processes for systems and change management.
  • Work across the organization to ensure advances in areas such as software development and the cloud are fully exploited.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the department, including forecasting, purchasing, budgeting and budget review.
  • Work in collaboration with stakeholders to develop technology plans, workflow automation, policies and procedures in alignment with company goals and strategy.
  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements, oversee relationships with external vendors and service providers for maintenance and support of technology solutions to contractually define service levels, manages vendor performance and performance issues.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies, determining technology solutions and implementation that meet business goals.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10 years of expert working knowledge of information technology concepts, procedures, and practices
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Salesforce.com.
  • Must have 5+ years of experience as an Information Technology leader, overseeing an IT infrastructure and team.
  • Prior experience effectively managing third party vendors

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to deal effectively with a diverse set of individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, analytical and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Systems Development Life-Cycle processes (SDLC).
  • Broad technical understanding and experience with ecommerce specifications.
  • Experience with SQL Programming and working with HTML and PHP code.
  • Strong knowledge, understanding, and support of cloud-based programs, specifically Salesforce.com (SFDC).
  • Strong technical and operational experience across all area of IT infrastructure and support including strong working knowledge of:
    • Microsoft based technologies; Windows server and Desktop OS, SharePoint, SQL server, etc. o Storage technologies
    • LAN/WAN/Networking Technologies o Back up and data protection
    • Disaster recovery strategies
    • Infrastructure hardware specifications and engineering
    • Infrastructure architecture principles around availability, scalability, supportability and performance engineering
