Computer Science Sales Manager - Western US

Job Summary

The Computer Science Sales Manager will be the expert in the field on all Computer Science technology products that the company offers. These products include Modern Learning Computer Science Platform, Computer Science and Game Design Fundamentals, and Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles. The Computer Science Sales Manager will:

  • Provide feedback from the field to Editorial, Technology, Sales, and Marketing to assist in the development of new products and enhancements to existing products.
  • Provide on-going competitive information to Technology, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Train sales representatives and customers on the use of Computer Science products
  • Conduct sales presentations
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting for customers
  • Develop and implement sales strategies for all Computer Science products

This position will be located in the Western United States, preferably near a major airport.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Technology, Editorial, Sales, and Marketing with market trends, competitive info, and feedback from customers regarding Computer Science products
  • Develop and implement sales strategies for Computer Science products, as well as manage new customer acquisition and training relationships
  • Train Account Managers on the use of Computer Science products
  • Travels as needed within the sales territory to call on customers and attend conferences
  • Conduct sales presentations independently, as well as alongside EMC School representatives
  • Provide on-site technical support for high-tier customers
  • Develop relationships with, and manage faculty advocates
  • Effectively qualifies leads and sales opportunities to ensure effective time and budget management
  • Works in conjunction with Sales Support and Marketing to maximize revenue within the assigned territory
  • Up to 60% overnight travel required

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • 4 year college degree (Bachelor’s Degree) is required
  • 5+ years of successful sales, publishing, teaching, or computer science field experience
  • Must live within the assigned territory of the Western US

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated sales ability in computer science, science or math
  • Working knowledge of the computer science field preferred, including competition, state trends, and funding
  • Experience delivering professional development for educators
  • Ability to build productive working relationships with customers/clients
  • Demonstrated skills in management and sales forecasting
  • Experience with Salesforce.com is preferred
  • Excellent presentation skills are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and relationship management skills
  • Desire to grow within the organization, to learn new markets, and new product categories
  • Knowledge of Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and funding streams
  • Understanding of the importance of digital literacy and computer science skills in workforce development and college readiness
  • Experience playing and/or designing board and digital games
  • Requires extensive overnight travel
  • Experience using game design toolkits, especially Scratch, GameStar Mechanic, GameSalad, GameMaker, and Unity3D is strongly desired
  • Computer programming, especially GML, JavaScript, and C# is strongly desired
