Assistant French Editor Intern

Job Summary

The Assistant French Editor Intern assists in the producing of a successful series of French textbooks, ancillary, electronic and multimedia materials for the high school market by working closely with editor, authors, production, and layout team. The Assistant Editor will work together and closely with the editor to ensure that the programs are released to the market on time according to publishing schedule. The Assistant Editor will be responsible for editing, copyediting and proofreading for student textbooks, teacher’s edition, and ancillary materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proofs textbooks and ancillaries (print, audio, and video).
  • Participate in the development of new electronic and multimedia products for the World Language markets.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by World Languages Editor Education and Experience
  • Required: Pursuing a B.A. or higher in French
  • Proven fluency in the French language (reading, writing, speaking, listening) Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Function effectively in stressful situations where deadlines are required
  • Excellent oral communication, written communication, and editorial skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable with technology

Desired Qualifications, Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Pursuing a B.A. or higher in Secondary Education Fluency in French at near-native level Knowledge of online learning environments and other technology used in education
  • Knowledge of ACTFL and Common Core State Standards
  • 3 or more years of experience in writing, editing, and publishing, preferably textbooks
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in high school education world language education
  • Knowledge of other languages is a plus
